About the Role: As part of the Data Systems department, the engineer makes a qualitative contribution to the project within their area of expertise by working independently. The aim is to help ensure that the delivery of a project is completed properly within the predetermined time and scope. By engaging with the client, you identify their expectations and needs. You help think about effective and efficient solutions for the client and translate these into a customized program. Main responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain Operational Intelligence (OI) solutions utilizing AVEVA PI (formerly OSISoft PI) for global industrial environments. Develop, deploy, and support real-time use cases to optimize operational performance and efficiency. Create and maintain comprehensive reporting and analytics dashboards using tools like Power BI. Integrate data sources from operational technology (OT) systems into AVEVA PI for effective data visualization and decision-making. Ensure reliable data acquisition, validation, storage, and distribution across various platforms. Troubleshoot data quality and connectivity issues within OI environments to minimize operational disruption. Collaborate closely with operational, engineering, and IT teams to continuously enhance analytics solutions and use case effectiveness. Conduct periodic assessments to identify and implement system performance improvements. Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. Certifications or formal training in AVEVA PI (OSISoft PI System Administration, Infrastructure Specialist, etc.) are strongly preferred. Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in Operational Intelligence, AVEVA PI engineering, or industrial data analytics. Familiarity with Industry 4.0, digitalization strategies, and operational excellence frameworks. Ideal profile: Strong expertise with AVEVA PI (OSISoft PI), including PI System architecture, AF, Vision, and PI Interfaces/connectors. Demonstrated experience developing operational intelligence use cases, including data analytics and visualization. Proficiency in reporting and data visualization tools, especially Microsoft Power BI. Familiarity with integrating data from SCADA, DCS, PLCs, and other industrial control systems into AVEVA PI. Knowledge of scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data manipulation and analytics. Understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC, Modbus, MQTT). Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive and analytical approach to troubleshooting. Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.

MES/MOM as we see it What do we expect from our new colleague: Execute AVEVA PI (formerly OSIsoft PI) Operational intelligence projects worldwide. Detect, reason and solve Operational informational issues of customers. Execute projects where interfacing with other MES/MOM technologies is required. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports to hand over the projects. Willing to travel. Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering or ICT, or you have acquired the equivalent level of knowledge through experience. Good communication skills to understand customer needs. You have a customer-focus view. A team-player who is stress-resistant and flexible. Good command of English (knowledge of French or another European language is a plus). Experience in MOM/MES applications or AVEVA PI is not required but a plus. Knowledge in development technologies is not required but is a plus. Experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, databases, historians including OSI PI. SQL skills, familiarity with Allen Bradley and other control systems, troubleshooting and commissioning experience.

Our Mission Critical Team is seeking a senior technical expert to provide advanced engineering leadership and hands-on expertise in the design and delivery of complex automation and control system integration projects. Our BMS Controls Project Engineers ensure that solutions are innovative, reliable, and aligned with customer requirements, while mentoring engineers and project managers and supporting business development efforts. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. 8+ years of progressive engineering experience in automation, controls, or system integration. Deep expertise in major automation platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Wonderware, Ignition, etc.). Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols and system architecture. Experience delivering multi-discipline integration projects. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Willingness to travel 30-40%.

Responsible for proposal and estimate development for industrial automation solutions in Consumer Products, Food and Beverage, Life Sciences, and Material Handling industries. Projects range from simple PLC upgrades to full automation solutions featuring Allen Bradley, Siemens, AVEVA, Ignition, and custom software. Work with Business Development and others to improve estimating methods, tools, and standardize processes.

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Aveva OSI PI Engineer to join its OSI team for a site-based project in Dublin, supporting Life Sciences manufacturing clients. The role centers on Aveva / OSIsoft PI System data historian solutions, control systems, and process analysis in a pharmaceutical context. Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing User Requirements Specifications; contributing to detailed design specifications and system architectures; developing PI Tags, Asset Framework (AF) templates and AF Analyses, and PI Event Frames; creating PI graphical user interfaces/visuals; supporting software development, testing, commissioning, and qualification; providing first-line sustaining support for PI; executing system changes and optimizations under site change control; and supporting PI qualification execution. The engineer must have a solid understanding of the Aveva / OSIsoft PI system, including installing, configuring, validating, and tuning PI Server and interfaces; experience with PI Vision, PI DataLink, and PI RtReports; and experience implementing analytic solutions with PI AF, AF Analytics, and Performance Equations. Strong Windows OS, networking, and system security fundamentals, as well as analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, are required. Non-essential but desirable skills include .NET software development, writing software applications and web services using PI-SDK and AF-SDK, and installing/configuring web-based applications. Requirements include familiarity with ISA 88 and GAMP, a minimum of 5+ years of relevant PI industry experience, PI System training, and a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field or equivalent experience. Pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred but not essential.
